Magnavox universal remotes are one of the most reliable options when it comes to simplifying your home entertainment setup. These remotes come in two models: the MC345, which can manage up to four devices, and the MC348, capable of controlling eight. Each model uses a different set of 4-digit device codes for programming.
To make the setup process as easy as possible, I have created a code lookup tool along with a step-by-step illustrated programming guide. Whether you have a standard Magnavox remote (like MC345 or MC348) or a model released under the “Philips-Magnavox” name (like the REM110), you will find the remote codes and setup instructions in this article.
Following is the list of 4-digit Magnavox remote codes for popular TV brands.

You can program your Magnavox universal remote using one of three methods: Direct Code Entry, Auto Code Search, or Brand Code Search. Each method is explained in detail below.
To program a Magnavox universal remote with code, use Direct Code Entry Method as explained below:
- Turn on the device (e.g., TV) you want to control.
- Press and hold the SET/Code Search button on the remote. Release it once the LED turns on.
- Press the device button on your remote (e.g., TV).
- Enter the 4-digit remote code for your device. If the code is correct, the LED will turn off, indicating that the remote has been successfully programmed. If the LED blinks several times and remains lit, the code is invalid. In that case, repeat the process with a different code until you find one that works.
To program a Magnavox universal remote without code, use Auto Code Search Method as follows:
- Turn on the device manually.
- Press and hold the Code Search/SET button on the remote until the LED light turns on, then release the button.
- Press the device button (e.g., TV if you’re programming a television).
- Press the Power button once and wait for the LED to begin flashing.
- Repeat pressing the Power button every few seconds until the device turns off. This means the remote has found a working code.
- Press the Enter button within 4 seconds after the device turns off to save the code and complete the setup.
- Finally, test the remote. Try using various functions (like volume, channel, or input) to ensure the device responds correctly. If everything works as expected, your setup is complete. If not, repeat the process starting from step 4 to find a compatible code.
To set up your remote with manual code search, follow the steps below:
- Turn on your device.
- Press the corresponding device selection button for your device.
- Press and hold the SET or Code Search button for 2-3 seconds until the LED lights up.
- Press the CH + or – buttons (on MC348) or Power button (on MC345) repeatedly to send different infrared signals of the corresponding buttons.
- Press the OK button (on the MC348) or the ENTER button (on the MC345) within 4 seconds after the device turns off to save the settings and exit programming mode.
- Test the buttons on your remote to see if they work correctly. If not repeat the process until it works.
This a different approach to programming your remote (MC348 only) where we use the brand codes instead of the 4-digit remote codes. Brand code is a single-digit code that represents all the devices of a particular brand.
To program using brand code, follow the steps below:
- Find the single-digit brand code for your device in the table below.
- Turn on the device you want to program (e.g., TV, DVD player, etc.).
- Press and hold the corresponding device button (e.g., TV) and the numeric button for your brand code at the same time.
-
- Example: Press and hold the TV and 1 buttons together if your TV brand code is 1.
- After about 2 seconds, the LED indicator will start blinking.
-
- Release the numeric button, but continue holding the device button. The remote will begin sending Power Off signals automatically every 0.5 seconds.
- When your device turns off, immediately release the device button to save the code and exit programming mode.
- Point the remote at your device and test the functions.
- If the device responds correctly, the setup was successful.
- If not, repeat the process starting from Step 3.

And that’s it! You now have everything you need to program your Magnavox universal remote using any of the available methods. We hope this guide has made the process clear and easy to follow. If you already have the correct 4-digit code, the Direct Code Entry method is the quickest option. If not, the Auto Code Search or Brand Code Search methods are great alternatives.
