Put your remote control into programming mode or setup mode. Most of the universal remote controls have a particular key or key combination to do this. For most remotes, press and hold the Setup key for a few seconds or until the LED indicator lights up.
Step 3: Choose your Device Type
Select your device type (TV) for programming. Most universal remotes have dedicated button for TV. Press that button to select it.
Step 4: Enter the Device Code:
Enter the remote code you got from the table or code lookup tool, using the numeric keys on your remote. If your device has multiple codes available, start with the first one and if it doesn’t work, try the next code, and so on.
Step 5: Save the Code:
Some universal remotes need you to press a specific button (such as OK button) to lock-in the code. If your remote needs it, consult the remote’s user manual to find that button and press it.
Step 6: Test the Remote:
Once you enter a valid code, aim the remote to your TV and press the basic keys like volume up and down, channel up and down, power button, etc. If your TV responds as expected. You are done. If not, try other codes provided for your TV brand.
